Much Needed In Tollywood: Remuneration Audits
In the meanwhile, it is being heard that even the second segment of actors are receiving huge amount of money as remuneration.
By: Tupaki Desk | 11 March 2025 4:28 AMFor many years now, Tollywood has been one of the highest paying industries in Indian cinema with the top stars receiving virtually tens of crores. It has now reached a point where a certain Prabhas and all Arjun are charging given ₹200 crore or more per film.
In the meanwhile, it is being heard that even the second segment of actors are receiving huge amount of money as remuneration.
The likes of Sharwanand and Gopichand are also demanding in the range of Rs 7-9 crores it seems. The issue is that the kind of revenues that they are generating through their films are not even remotely close to the proportional equilibrium of the remunerations that they are charging.
The bunch of mega heroes who have been struggling in recent times to deliver a substantial heat at the box office have also been charging a huge amount of money, it seems.
With the top stars, becoming nearly unaffordable with their humongous, remunerations and the second segment of active also hiking up their remuneration, regardless of their market, there is a huge inflation in the Tollywood remuneration spectrum.
It has now reached a point where producers are thinking twice before making a film because of the huge remuneration that they have to pay and also the massive production cost that comes with it. And at the end of it, marketing, a film successfully and generating profits from it has become nearly impossible for most films these days.
There is a widespread narrative now that producers are calling for audits and modernisation of the remuneration that is being charged by the main heroes of Tollywood.
