Tollywood is heading for one of its busiest months. August was supposed to end with Ravi Teja’s Mass Jatara, but now all focus has shifted to September. The month is packed with releases, and trade circles believe it will bring back the theatre buzz in a big way. The line-up starts with Ghaati on September 4, which is confirmed. Immediately after that, there are talks of Mass Jatara releasing the next day, or else moving to September 12. But on that same date, People’s Media Factory is eyeing the release of Teja Sajja’s Mirai.

September 12 is looking dangerously crowded. Bellamkonda Sai Srinivas already blocked the date for Kishkindapuri and even released a teaser to mark it. If Mirai and Mass Jatara also land on the same day, there will be a direct fight for theatres. Later in the month, September 25 has already been claimed by Powerstar Pawan Kalyan’s OG. And when Pawan comes, no one dares to clash. The hype around OG is sky-high, and distributors are quoting massive rates to grab it. While Akhanda 2 is said to be almost shelved.

Adding to this rush are Tamil dubbings, Sivakarthikeyan’s Madarasi on September 5 and Vijay Antony’s Bhadrakali on September 12. Though they are not expected to dominate, they will add pressure on the release calendar. This means the audience will get non-stop films, but for producers, the fight for screens will be intense.

In total, five major Telugu films (Ghaati, Mirai, Mass Jatara, Kishkindapuri, and OG) and two dubbed films are landing within just 20 days. The careers of Ravi Teja, Teja Sajja, Bellamkonda, and, of course, Pawan Kalyan, are tied closely to this month. By the end of September, it will be clear who soared high and who stumbled in the biggest box-office race of the year.
