But the interest is slowly rejuvenating once again as we are seeing a lot of new posters of upcoming movies which are set in sea backdrop. Naga Chaitanya's 'Thandel' has a coastal backdrop where the hero is seen as a fisherman. Chandoo Mondeti is mixing love, action and thrilling elements for this film which is being made on a big scale. The posters of 'Devara' which arrived till date had sea waves all over it. It is made clear that this pan-Indian flick is all about the illegal business happening near the sea coast.
Even the introduction scene of 'Waltair Veerayya' which came and became a blockbuster last Sankranti season has Chiranjeevi going on a boat. Vaisshnav Tej was seen as a fisherman in 'Uppena' and the crucial romantic scene of the film happens on a boat in the middle of the sea. It looks like sea backdrop and boat have become the new success formula in Tollywood. A lot of writers and directors are coming up with subjects that are set in the same backdrops. There were a few failures too which involve 'Maha Samudram' and others.
The presentation of these films are key and the filmmakers are trying to get it right. Though the small heroes are faltering a bit, the big heroes are scoring hits. Both 'Thandel' and 'Devara' will be releasing this year and the makers are spending a lot on the movie. Sources say that Suriya's 'Kanguva' is also shot majorly near the sea area. Let us see how these films perform at the box office.
