A Completely Disappointing Summer!

The summer season is a festival for movie lovers. A lot of big films used to release in these two months. Starting from the end of March, the film festival used to continue till the first week of June. Students who get stressed by all the examinations in February and March will use these summer releases as stressbusters. That is why movies which release in summer get a lot of collections.

There are movie releases every week and the theatres will be packed with crowds. But the summer season has been quite dull over the past two years. The lockdown spoiled two years and the lack of planning has affected the entire summer season last year. The situation is even worse in 2024. It started quite well with 'Tillu Square'. It crossed the 100 crore mark and is still getting decent collections.

But things started to get worse from April 5th as Vijay Deverakonda's 'Family Star' disappointed everyone. Last week, 'Geethanjali Malli Vachindi' arrived and failed to make an impact. The audience are showing no interest to watch this film after the weekend. None of the new releases failed to have 50% occupancy and some of the shows were cancelled due to lack of crowd.

The slump is going to continue for longer period as upcoming weeks are going to be highly dull. There are two small films like 'Aa Okkati' and 'Love Me' which are arriving but they may not attract a lot of people as there is zero hype on them. The only hope for summer is 'Kalki' but it is also expected to get postponed to June or July. Looks like it is going to be a completely dull and dry summer.
