All the Telugu films released last Friday, including the likes of Sree Vishnu’s Mrityunjay, Shivaji’s Sampradayini Suppini Suddapoosani, Varalakshmi Sarathkumar’s S Saraswathi, and another film, Mension House Mallesh, have hit a slump on Day 1 itself.

Guess what, most of these films found no takers on Sunday, with the mood of the nation swinging towards the T20 Men’s World Cup Final from the afternoon. In some areas, showings of these films got cancelled too. And now that has become an acid test for these movies on Monday.

Usually, the Monday collections would be low for any movie, but if films get below average talk and if they get badly impacted on Sunday, surely the Monday box office would be much worse than expected. However, for many of these films to be continued in Multiplex, a minimum percentage of tickets should be booked on Monday. Even single screens are trying to bring some other films, other than screening new releases, to empty chairs.

However, the situation is that there are no other films right now that could actually revive the box office until next Friday. That gives an edge to last Friday's releases, and maybe some good promotions will help these already settled films grab footfalls. However, after doing success meets on Saturday, it looks like most of the makers of these films have given up.
