Trump 2.0: Rough Time For Tollywood?
In one of the most significant reforms informed by Trump, he is going extremely hard against the part time culture
By: Tupaki Desk | 1 Feb 2025 10:14 AM ISTFor the second time in the history of the United States of America, Donald J Trump is taking full effect of administration in the country. He is bringing several reformative changes in the administrative process in the country, and this is directly affecting the Indian student population in the United States.
In one of the most significant reforms informed by Trump, he is going extremely hard against the part time culture that has been inhabited by the Indian student community in the United States.
The local authorities are actively searching, hotels, and other establishments that serve as revenue streams for the Indian community in the United States and they are cracking down on the same.
Any student, who is found in violation of this part time regulation, will face intense action. There is a very good chance that a student can even get easily deported if he or she is found in violation of this regulation.
The standard regulation in the United States is that an international student can work 20 hours a week in campus. However, or 90% of the Indian student community in the United States do not follow this regulation and often engage in off campus employment opportunities which mainly include works in gas stations and restaurants.
However, with the Trump administration strongly opposing this, it appears to be that the student community will have to go through a severe financial crisis in the day to come.
What this essentially means is that students might not be financially, independent, like the way they were in the past, and this will only go on to affect the financial streams that are dependent on the same.
Notably students primarily constitute to the larger section of the revenues for Telugu films in the United States, which have been witnessing exceptional revenues in recent times. But with this new regulation on the part-time process, the financial stream that leads into the Indian student community will get largely constrained.
This will ultimately affect the theatrical returns of Telugu films in the United States as students will not be as leisurely as they were in the past when it comes to spending money on extra curricular activities like films. While it is expected that certain effect is going to fall on the film industry, only time will decide what will be the degree of the impact.
