This film marks the reunion of Pawan Kalyan and director Harish Shankar after the blockbuster Gabbar Singh. Naturally, fans had high expectations, but the long gap raised many questions.
During the launch of the film’s first song at Aditya College in Hyderabad, Harish Shankar finally spoke openly and gave full clarity about the film. He addressed the delay, story changes, and remake rumours very honestly.
Harish Shankar said, "This is the first proper platform where I can talk about Ustaad Bhagat Singh. Everywhere else, fans kept asking for updates, but now the time has come to speak clearly." He also mentioned that many websites, TV channels, and YouTube platforms blamed Pawan Kalyan for the delay. Clearing this, he said, "This film was not delayed because of Pawan Kalyan at all."
The director explained that initially he planned a different story. "After Gabbar Singh, I wanted to show him in a college-based story like Jalsa or Khushi. I wrote that script, but later felt it was too classy. Fans expected something else, so we dropped that idea," he said.
Then came the COVID period, which affected him deeply. Harish Shankar shared a personal moment by saying, "During corona, I went into mental depression. My mental health was badly affected." After recovering, they thought about doing a remake, but even that idea did not fully satisfy them. "We had doubts about that story also. Finally, we started this film with a story that suits his image and fan expectations," he added.
Talking about the shooting speed, Harish Shankar praised Pawan Kalyan’s dedication. "Nature supported us, so the film was completed very fast. Pawan Kalyan worked super fast. There were days he worked 18 to 20 hours." He also revealed that Pawan Kalyan would attend cabinet meetings in the morning and come for shooting at night, sometimes leaving directly to Vijayawada after the shoot.
