Will the Box Office Stay Quiet Until Ustaad Bhagat Singh Arrives?

The excitement around Sankranti releases is slowly coming to an end. At best, theatres may see some movement for another week, but after that, the situation looks dull. Right now, Chiranjeevi’s film is the only one holding strong at the box office. Movies starring Nani and Sharwanand are managing average collections and staying visible, but they are not creating any big buzz. On the other hand, stars like Ravi Teja and Prabhas are currently away from releases, giving theatres little to celebrate.

The last week of January and the first week of February do not have any major films lined up. Some movies like Tarun Bhascker’s Om Shanti Shanti Shantihi, Gunasekhar’s Euphoria, Vishwak Sen’s Funky, and a couple-friendly film from UV Creations have created interest among movie lovers. However, these films mainly attract a limited audience. Since they are not mass entertainers, huge crowds in theatres are unlikely.

Because of this, trade circles believe that the box office may remain slow until the end of March. Many feel that the real momentum will come only with Ustaad Bhagat Singh. Even this film’s release date is not officially confirmed yet. Earlier, there were strong reports that the movie would release on March 27, especially after another big film was expected to move away from that date. The producers, Mythri Movie Makers, were said to be planning around that window.

If Ram Charan’s project also shifts its date, then Ustaad Bhagat Singh could become the biggest release of that period. Fans are also relaxed because there is no serious competition expected from other films during that time. Since Ustaad Bhagat Singh mainly targets the regional market, it does not have to worry much about clashes.

With The Paradise stepping aside, the last week of March has become wide open. Mega fans are already in a happy mood after recent successes and strongly believe that Ustaad Bhagat Singh will continue the winning streak.

Director Harish Shankar has already started dubbing work and is preparing a special promotion plan. Since Pawan Kalyan may not attend every event, the team is focusing on creative publicity ideas. Once the release date is announced, promotions are expected to begin in full swing.
