Trade Talk: The Common Point Of Ustaad And Raja Saab

We are going to witness a major Telugu film, arriving at the ticket counters this week in the form of Ustad Bhagat Singh and here we have an uncanny resemblance of the film with Raja Saab.

A comparison of the pre release theatrical business of Ustaad Bhagat Singh and The Raja Saab has become a talking point in Tollywood trade circles. Both films are among the most anticipated star projects, but their business figures show a noticeable difference.

According to trade reports, Ustaad Bhagat Singh starring Pawan Kalyan is expected to do strong business in the Telugu states. The film has reportedly fetched around ₹120 crore in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana theatrical rights.

The deal is estimated to include roughly ₹60 crore from Andhra, ₹40 crore from Nizam and about ₹20 crore from the Ceded region.

However, distributors say the makers initially aimed for an even higher valuation. Reports suggest the producers were quoting around ₹150 crore for the Telugu states rights before negotiations settled at lower figures.

On the other hand, The Raja Saab starring Prabhas has shown stronger commercial momentum. The film already recorded one of the biggest openings of 2026, collecting around ₹62.9 crore on its first day, indicating its strong market pull.

Trade analysts say this difference highlights the current market dynamics in Tollywood. While Pawan Kalyan still commands a massive fan base and strong theatrical demand, Prabhas’ pan India reach and recent box office track record give The Raja Saab a higher business edge.

Overall, both films remain major projects, but in terms of pre release market strength and opening potential, The Raja Saab currently appears to have a clear advantage.
