Rajamouli’s Varanasi Creates History with Paris Teaser Screening

Even before its release, the film has started creating strong buzz due to its scale, star cast and global reach. What has made the news even more special is the international recognition the film has already received. The teaser of Varanasi was screened at a famous cinema hall in Paris which is a rare honour for an Indian movie. Varanasi, directed by S. S. Rajamouli, has officially locked its theatrical release date. The film is scheduled to hit cinemas on April 9, 2027, aiming for a festive release during Sri Rama Navami. Given Rajamouli’s track record, expectations are naturally very high for this project.
Soon after the release date announcement, the makers surprised everyone with a major international update. The announcement teaser of Varanasi was screened on January 5, 2026, at Le Grand Rex, one of the most iconic theatres in Europe. This makes Varanasi the first Indian film to have its teaser showcased at this historic venue.
The film stars Mahesh Babu in the lead role, marking his first collaboration with Rajamouli. The cast also includes Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran in important roles. Their presence adds more strength and pan-world appeal to the project.
Varanasi is produced by K. L. Narayana and S. S. Karthikeya, while music is composed by Oscar-winning composer M. M. Keeravani.
