Director Venkatesh Maha is once again in the news, but this time he wants to clear an old controversy. During the promotions of his upcoming film Rao Bahadur, the filmmaker explained that his earlier comments about commercial cinema were misunderstood because only a small part of his interview was shared online.

Venkatesh Maha became popular with his debut film C/o Kancharapalem. The movie received huge appreciation from both critics and audiences. Many people believed he would become one of the top directors in Telugu cinema. However, his career did not move as quickly as expected after that success.

His second film, Uma Maheswara Ugra Roopasya, was released directly on an OTT platform. Since it was a remake, many people did not give him full credit for its success. Later, he also worked as a producer for Martin Luther King, but the film failed to perform well at the box office.

A few years ago, Maha took part in a directors' roundtable discussion. Some of his comments created a major debate on social media. Many viewers believed that he had spoken against commercial films and claimed that making such movies was not difficult. His words were criticized by movie lovers and even some people from the film industry.

Now, Maha says that the controversy happened because his statements were edited. According to him, the video that went viral did not include his full explanation. He said he was actually talking about films that use too much violence and not about commercial cinema in general.

The director also explained that he respects commercial films and understands their importance in the industry. He added that another important part of his statement, where he said he would not make such violent films, was removed from the final video. Because of this, many people misunderstood his opinion and believed he was insulting commercial filmmakers.

Maha said the edited clip even changed the opinion of people who personally knew him. He felt disappointed that many judged him without hearing his complete comments.

His new film Rao Bahadur, starring Satyadev, is now getting ready for release. The movie has been produced by Mahesh Babu along with Chai Bisket. With this film, Venkatesh Maha hopes audiences will focus on his work rather than the old controversy and give his latest project a warm welcome.
