Jana Nayagan In Telugu: Underestimating Telugu Audience?
From social media pages to media debates, his name is echoing across the country after TVK stormed the election, winning 107 seats themselves
By: Shanaz B Syed | 5 May 2026 11:42 PM ISTRight now, Vijay is not just a star anymore, but a full-blown political phenomenon. From social media pages to media debates, his name is echoing across the country after TVK stormed the election, winning 107 seats themselves. Naturally, that wave is pushing massive hype towards his unreleased film Jana Nayagan, which has been facing troubles for the last 4 months.
Undoubtedly, in Tamil, this is a storm waiting to explode. Content doesn’t even matter at this point. Fans will celebrate it like a festival, because Vijay almost stated that this is his last film. But here’s where things get tricky, as the makers are said to be contemplating releasing the movie in Telugu as well. That’s nothing but underestimating the Telugu audience.
To give a perspective, Jana Nayagan is a remake of Balakrishna’s Bhagavanth Kesari, a film that Telugu audiences have already watched and celebrated. But now, repackaging the same story, dubbing it back into Telugu, and expecting people to show up is an outright funny thing. Are they seriously assuming Telugu audiences will fall for these tricks? A few weeks ago, there was zero interest in this film’s Telugu release. Honestly, if it had been released during Sankranti, it would’ve been completely ignored.
Moreover, people here are like, after watching Vijay’s Policeodu in Telugu on YouTube and other means, they haven’t watched the movie’s remake, Ustaad Bhagat Singh, no matter even if Pawan Kalyan starred as the lead.
