Tamil actor Vijay started his political journey in 2024 by announcing his new party called Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK). He made the announcement a few months before the Lok Sabha elections. At that time, Vijay clearly said that his party would not contest the Lok Sabha elections and would focus only on the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. After announcing the party, Vijay also shared its policies and ideas with the public. He started meeting people and slowly tried to build a strong political base. However during this journey, Vijay has been facing several challenges and controversies, many of which are connected to court cases.

One of the biggest controversies happened in September last year during a TVK roadshow in Karur. During the event, a stampede occurred and sadly 41 people lost their lives. The incident became a major topic of discussion across the country. After the tragedy, authorities introduced strict rules and restrictions for organizing roadshows. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) started an inquiry into the Karur incident. As part of the investigation, Vijay travelled to Delhi twice in January to cooperate with officials. While the CBI questioned the arrangements made during the event, Vijay claimed that the government’s poor planning was also responsible for the tragedy.

At the same time, Vijay’s upcoming movie “Jananayagan,” which was expected to release during the Pongal festival this year, also faced legal problems. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) reportedly raised objections to some scenes in the film and stopped the certification process. The matter went to the Madras High Court. Vijay’s fans expected the film to increase his political popularity, but the issue delayed the release. The court supported the CBFC’s decision, and the film’s production team later withdrew the case. As of now, there is still no clarity about the certification and release of the movie.

Another issue arose regarding the flag of Vijay’s political party. A Chennai-based organization claimed that the TVK flag looked similar to their flag and filed a case in the Madras High Court. Initially, the court allowed TVK to continue using the flag. However, the organization later filed an appeal, and the case is still under hearing.

Recently, Vijay also became part of another controversy related to his personal life. Reports about his wife Sangeetha filing for divorce in a family court have come out. The court is expected to hear the case on April 20. Since elections in Tamil Nadu may happen around the same time, many people believe the issue could also have political impact. How Vijay handles these challenges will be closely watched in the coming months.
