Leo Day 1 collections: Vijay-starrer crosses Rs 140 crore globally

Director Lokesh Kanagaraj's film 'Leo,' starring Thalapathy Vijay, was released in theaters on Thursday and received an outstanding response at the box office. According to industry tracker Sacnilk.com, 'Leo' achieved the biggest worldwide opening for a Kollywood film.

The action thriller was released in multiple languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi. On Thursday morning, it premiered on thousands of screens worldwide. Film trade analyst Ramesh Bala reported that 'Leo' crossed the 100 crore mark at the global box office on its opening day, marking a significant milestone for Thalapathy Vijay and Director Lokesh.

Early reports indicate that 'Leo' is the third Kollywood film to surpass a 100 crore opening, following superstar Rajinikanth's 'Kabali' and '2Point0.' The movie earned 115.90 crore in total, with substantial contributions from various regions.

Furthermore, 'Leo' managed to outperform the day-one worldwide collection of Shah Rukh Khan's recent release, 'Jawan,' with an estimated gross box office collection of 140 crores on its opening day. It's an all-time record for a Tamil film, boasting the highest opening in Tamil Nadu in 2023 and impressive collections in other regions.

'Leo' is a part of Lokesh Kanagaraj's cinematic franchise called 'Lokesh Cinematic Universe,' generating excitement among fans of Vijay and director Lokesh. Besides Thalapathy Vijay, the film features Sanjay Dutt, Trisha Krishnan, Arjun Sarja, Mansoor Ali Khan, Priya Anand, Mysskin, and Gautham Vasudev Menon in significant roles. The movie was produced by Seven Screen Studio.
