Some people believe that only mass entertainers can become hits. Others feel that family dramas are always a safe choice. There is also a common opinion that audiences are getting tired of violent films. However the box office results tell a different story.
Telugu audiences have always supported different types of films. They enjoy devotional movies and emotional family dramas. They also love mass entertainers and intense action films. The success of Annamayya showed how much audiences love devotional cinema. In the same way Arjun Reddy proved that a bold and intense film can also become a huge hit.
There are many examples of films from different genres that have won the hearts of audiences. This proves that there is no single formula for success in Tollywood. A film does not become a hit just because it belongs to a particular genre. The story and the way it is presented are equally important.
Actor Vishwak Sen seems to understand this point very well. He recently shared his views on the audience and their taste in cinema. He questioned the statements made by people who believe that audiences are tired of violent films.
People often say that viewers no longer want to watch movies filled with violence and bloodshed. However Vishwak Sen questioned this opinion by pointing to the success of DC. His question makes people think about whether it is right to judge the audience before a film reaches theatres.
Vishwak Sen said that a film can succeed in any genre if the drama is engaging. Audiences will watch a movie when the story holds their attention. They do not always choose films based on whether they are family dramas or action entertainers.
This is an important point for filmmakers in Tollywood. Directors and producers should not limit themselves to a particular genre because of current trends. They should focus on telling interesting stories and presenting them in an engaging way.
At the same time choosing a different genre alone cannot guarantee success. The execution must also be strong. Even a good concept can fail if the screenplay and story are weak.
