Despite immense pre-release hype and the star power of Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, YRF’s spy thriller WAR 2 failed to live up to the expectations at the box office.

Producer Naga Vamsi has released the film in the Telugu states with prestige and even went on saying that if this film didn’t turn out to be a blockbuster, he will not ask the Telugu audience to watch any film further.

Oops, the film turned out to be the biggest dud, and the collections aren’t par with what a Jr NTR film would actually collect from the Telugu states. Talking about the same, Naga Vamsi stated that the Telugu theatrical rights of WAR 2 were acquired for ₹68 crores, excluding GST. Notably, Yash Raj Films has borne the GST amount prior to the film’s release.

Later, with the collections falling around ₹35-40 crores in terms of distribution share, YRF is said to have refunded ₹18 crores voluntarily, as per Naga Vamsi.

Based on these figures, one could say that the nett losses for the original producer, YRF, are around ₹10-15 crores range, unlike what is being spoke on social media that the film resulted in ₹30-40 crores.

However, if YRF hasn’t refunded the money, Naga Vamsi would have easily lost ₹20-25 crores, including the publicity costs, which is naturally the case with many distributors who buy Telugu films.
