The buzz around War 2 is impossible to miss, not just for the pairing of Hrithik Roshan and NTR, but for the massive deal brewing in the Telugu market.
By: Tupaki Desk | 2 July 2025 1:12 PM ISTThe buzz around War 2 is impossible to miss, not just for the pairing of Hrithik Roshan and NTR, but for the massive deal brewing in the Telugu market. With the South's interest in Bollywood films peaking post-RRR, NTR’s Hindi debut under the YRF spy universe banner is drawing major attention. And now, the Telugu rights for this high-stakes film have reportedly landed with producer S. Naga Vamsi of Sitara Entertainments, for a staggering ₹80 crore.
This isn't a minor deal. It’s the highest ever paid for Telugu rights of a Hindi film. While War 2 already had a solid market in the North due to Hrithik, it’s NTR’s presence that’s driving up the value in Telugu states. Post-Devara, Telugu fans are more than ready to see him take on a pan-India spy role. With multiple distributors in the race, Vamsi seems to have outpaced all competition to bag what could be one of the year’s biggest releases.
Interestingly, War 2 is set to clash with Coolie, starring Superstar Rajinikanth, which has also locked a Telugu release for the same day, August 14. While Coolie’s rights sold for ₹50 crore, War 2’s ₹80 crore tag shows where the scale, and risk, really lies. It’s shaping up to be a heavyweight clash at the Telugu box office, with fans of both stars gearing up for a full-blown festive showdown.
What makes this even more exciting is the team behind War 2. With Ayan Mukerji directing and YRF producing, the film promises large-scale action and sleek storytelling. And NTR, stepping into a full-fledged spy role for the first time, only adds fuel to the hype. Whether the ₹80 crore gamble pays off or not, one thing’s certain: South India isn’t just watching Bollywood anymore, it’s buying big into it.
