Opening Week Box Office: NTR’s Disaster With War 2

When it was first announced that NTR would be working with Bollywood superstar, Hrithik Roshan for War 2, great things were expected from this collaboration. But the reality is completely different as this film is turning out to be one of the biggest disasters in recent times.

War 2 has completed its first week at the box office with a worldwide gross of 295 crore. The film opened to huge hype and strong advance bookings, pulling audiences in large numbers across different regions.

In Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, it collected 60 crore during the first week. From the rest of the South Indian states, it added another 20 crore. The biggest contribution came from North India, where the film earned an impressive 145 crore. Overseas markets also performed well, bringing in 70 crore.

Altogether, the film managed a solid 295 crore worldwide in just seven days. While this is a strong number, the breakeven target for War 2 is fixed at around 700 crore. This means the movie has recovered about 42 percent of its required value so far.

For War 2 to reach safe profits, it needs to hold well in its second week and continue steady momentum in all territories. The coming weekends will decide whether it can cross the big breakeven mark or fall short.

But as things stand, this is now turning out to be one of the biggest box office disasters in recent times. NTR horribly miscalculated the capabilities of Director Ayan Mukerjee and it backfired badly.
