Weekend BO: Low Buzz, But One Respite…
As we had already reported earlier, this weekend was always going to be a rather dull one for Tollywood with not many straight Telugu options available in theatres.
By: Tupaki Desk | 21 Feb 2025 5:56 AMAs we had already reported earlier, this weekend was always going to be a rather dull one for Tollywood with not many straight Telugu options available in theatres. We have multiple dubbed options at the box office, and here is a look into the story behind the same.
The likes of Bapu and Ramam Raghavam are the two Telugu options that released today. They had very little promotional material, going their way in order to generate buzz at the box office.
Coming to the dubbed options, we have Jabillamma Neeku Antha Kopam and Dragon which are the Tamil to Telugu dubbed options. They too did not have too much buzz going into the release this weekend.
However, it can be noted that Jabilli, which is directed by Dhanush as open to pretty decent reviews. You can check out our review on the site as well, and get a knack of the kind of cinematic respite this film offers.
The film actually released with zero anticipation and hype in the Telugu states, but it somehow managed to open to above average reviews here. This could be decisive in the success of the film if it can gain momentum over the weekend by attracting the younger generation of the audience.
Other Tamil film Dragon also has pretty decent prospect going its way. It can be noted that Hero Pradeep Ranganathan’s earlier film Love Today had also worked reasonably well at the Telugu box office, so he has some sort of stamping here. So if this film also managers to generate a decent word of mouth, then it will also have a decent prospect.
But for now, Dhanush directed Jabili has opened to decent reviews, and this might make up for the rather low buzz that it had prior to the release.
We must now wait and see how these four films pan out at the box office and which of them will actually bring the audience to theaters this weekend.
