Opinion: Why These Two Films Didn’t Bring Footfalls

Last February, there were movies that actually got appreciation from the audience, but didn’t make it big at the Box Office. Quite surprisingly, despite getting buzz on social media, it hasn’t turned out into a blitzkrieg of revenue at the box office. So, why did these films fail to get footfalls?

Both the films Couple Friendly and Vishnu Vinyaasam have got a lot of applause from the audience, while critics gave mixed opinions. However, there are no footfalls for these two movies despite all the claims. Just by the first Monday itself, these films struggled to bring in the audience. Either the promotions they have done are not enough, or people are not really finding them exciting enough to get into theatres.

For Couple Friendly people stated that Santhosh Soban doesn't have enough fan base to make sure that there will be huge footfall, in that case, Vishnu Vinyasam should have huge openings right due to Sree Vishnu factor? But that doesn't happen in the theatres. Some say that by the end of the Sankranti season, people have already watched 4 to 5 films in theatres and their valets have dried up. Trade experts, however, feel that only content inside the movie can bring the footfalls, but nothing else.

Whatever the reasons may be, currently, Tollywood producers are busy analysing the performance of these two films with respect to the perception of the audience and the way they received them in theatres.
