Why Are Stars Loving To Host Digital Shows?
From Amitabh Bachchan hosting Kaun Banega Crorepati to many other stars taking the hosting mantle, it’s a job that gives extra perks.
By: Shanaz B Syed | 2 Oct 2026 3:26 PM ISTEver since Teja Sajja came out as a host of Amazon Prime Video’s Telugu version of the reality show “Traitors” and then Nagarjuna Akkineni hosted Bigg Boss Telugu for years, various other stars are also showcasing their interest in hosting shows. It has come that Megastar Chiranjeevi will host a talk show for Netflix. Well, what makes stars host shows?
In the good old days, most talkative stars used to host shows purely for the sake of money. From Amitabh Bachchan hosting Kaun Banega Crorepati to many other stars taking the hosting mantle, it’s a job that gives extra perks. There’s not much script to prepare, there is no costume or special makeup to be taken care of, and then there is no release day and recovery pressure. A show just gets aired, and the actors get some craze if it clicks, or it will remain in history if it doesn’t, but still the show won’t do the damage as a film does. And then, it gives a lot of money too. But that’s not the case now.
These days, many actors, including superstars, are finding it hard to stay relevant with the young crowd. Previously, only movies used to be the biggest topic on the internet after politics. But now, every day a new video pops out, a new meme is made, and there are a lot of other entertaining things besides movies that grab the attention of a young audience. So movie makers like stars, directors, and producers should make sure they get noticed. For that to happen, for actors, the easy way is to host something like a reality show, talk show or game show.
For that reason, from Chiranjeevi to Teja Sajja, everyone is hosting a show, perhaps. Well, anything is becoming a PR tool these days for stars and there is no wrong in that.
