The teaser which runs for about two minutes, shows Yash in two completely different appearances. In one scene, he is seen with long hair and a thick beard. In another, he appears fully clean-shaven. This clean-shaven look surprised many fans and viewers. After playing the rugged, bearded Rocky Bhai in the KGF films for years, people found it difficult to recognise him at first.
Soon after the teaser release, trolls started targeting Yash online. Some comments said that he looks weak without a beard, while a few even claimed he is “nothing” without his old style. However, along with trolling, there was also strong support from fans. Many praised Yash for trying something new and not sticking to the same image.
One fan wrote that they thought a new actor had been introduced, and only later realised it was Yash. Another fan proudly said that Yash always takes risks, unlike many actors who repeat the same roles again and again. Some fans also connected the dots with past news. During the shooting of Toxic, Yash was often seen covering his face. After watching the teaser, fans said they now understand why he kept his look hidden.
Interestingly, there were reports earlier that Prashanth Neel wanted Rocky Bhai to appear without a beard in KGF Chapter 2. But since the bearded look became iconic, Yash decided to continue with it at that time.
Toxic is directed by Geetu Mohandas and produced by Venkat K. Narayana along with Yash. The film features a strong cast including Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria, and Rukmini Vasanth.
Shot in Kannada and English, the film will also release in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam. Scheduled for a March 19 release, Toxic will clash with Dhurandhar: The Revenge.
