During the conversation, Yash shared an interesting experience about explaining his role as Ravana to his children.
Yash, who plays Ravana in the upcoming film, revealed that his children were surprised when he told them about his character. They questioned him about why he was playing Ravana instead of Lord Rama.
The actor said that his children were shocked to see him as Ravana and asked, "Why Ravana? Why not you Rama?"
Sharing his thoughts, Yash explained that while Ravana is a powerful and attractive character, Lord Rama represents the values that people should follow in their lives.
"At the end of the day, Rama has to be followed," Yash said.
He further explained that he considers himself Lord Rama in real life while portraying Ravana on screen. "I am Rama in real life and Ravana on screen," the actor said.
Yash also spoke about the importance of understanding the deeper meaning of the Ramayana. According to him, Ravana may have had beauty, power and knowledge, but Lord Rama remains greater because of his values and righteousness.
"Though Ravana has beauty and power, Rama is great. If you have to win, then you have to follow the essence of Rama," Yash said.
In another interaction with Indian-American comedian Zarna Garg, Yash also spoke about how the Ramayana can help parents teach values to their children through storytelling.
He explained that children may not always understand life lessons when parents directly tell them what to do. Stories like the Ramayana allow them to understand values in their own way.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Namit Malhotra, Ramayana features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana. The film is planned as a two-part adaptation, with the first part scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on November 5, 2026.
