Already, the teaser of Yash’s character from the film “Toxic” has lived up to the tagline that this is a fairytale for grown-ups. Directed by Geethu Mohandas, the film’s further added promotional content, like the Tabaahi song, has set tongues wagging, as discussions are being made about how ‘revealingly’ women are portrayed inside the film. At the same time, the debate is that while men might enjoy these bold characters, what about the women?

Yash’s previous film series, KGF, has cult lady fans too, as the film’s core emotion, Yash’s stylised looks, his body language and everything around him made them super happy. But coming to Toxic, the film’s adult-themed content has so far created buzz among men, but it looks like women are yet to connect with the content. Though the characters of Nayantara, Rukmini Vasanth, Huma Qureshi and Tara Sutaria appear to be powerful, it’s the dark characteristic of Yash’s role that’s playing the wrong side, they say.

Films turn out to be blockbusters only when the characters are likeable and adored, not because they are powerful, bold and visually appetite-filling. Though we have seen similar themes in movies like Animal, there the characterisation worked out due to the likeability factor created through sentiment, and love appeared genuine rather than lusty, which made women love it.

Toxic is carrying huge buzz as the film is hitting cinemas on August 26th, all these characters and the intro videos that might come out, should actually make women hook to the film. That’s because Yash has a crazy following among them, and if that works, then the film will do wonders.
