OTT Platform Bets Big On Kiran Abbavaram - Risk? Or Safe?
Apparently, Tollywood producers are not taking big risks with medium-range heroes these days.

They are first checking with OTT platforms if they could get their investment back, and only when that is assured, they are going ahead with a spending of around ₹15-25 crores. However, here comes an OTT platform that is directly taking the risk, if reports are true.
Popular OTT platform, Zee Studios, which acquired some of the major big ticket films in recent times, is likely to produce a major mythological film featuring the young hero Kiran Abbavaram. Though his market is under ₹20-25 crores at the moment, the makers are pushing for a massive budget as this film involves VFX and making big set works. However, if the film has a huge budget invested, one wonders how Zee Studios would plan to recover it.
That said, even if they invest 100 such crores, that investment will also not result in huge quality, as the likes of Varanasi and Ramayana are being made with a ₹1000+ crore budget to achieve quality visual effects. In that zone, why Zee Studios is taking such a huge risk with Kiran Abbavaram is the question now.
No matter how good the story is, in Tollywood, films that are made with small heroes and big budgets never result in profits. Anyway, if the budget is under control, if they could achieve magic in 20 crores for real, then it will be safe only, feels trade pundits.
