Drama ruled the charts, pulling in more than 40 billion minutes alone, proving once again that emotional storytelling never loses its grip on Indian audiences. What is new is how people are watching, with 64% of premium content minutes coming from smart TVs, making the big screen in the living room the new theatre.
The South played a starring role in this story. Nearly half of ZEE5’s 4K watch time came from Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada audiences. Titles like Aindham Vedham, Paruvu, and Thalaimai Seyalagam became favourites, while films such as Hanu-Man and Identity dominated festive binging. Bengali also rose high on the charts, becoming one of the top three languages even in Hindi-speaking belts, proving that cross-language stories are catching fire across the country.
Then came the game changer, Mrs., starring Sanya Malhotra. Released in February 2025, it broke all previous ZEE5 records with 150 million streaming minutes in its first weekend. More than just entertainment, it started real conversations about gender and identity. That is the kind of cinema OTT viewers are clearly embracing, stories that entertain and stir thought at the same time.
Industry voices are clear about one thing. ZEE5’s success comes from listening closely to what people want, in the language they love. The evening binge hours (5 PM to 11 PM) are proof that OTT is now a daily routine for many. With regional dramas, high-quality 4K experiences, and smart timing of releases, ZEE5 is not just keeping up with the OTT race, it is setting the pace.
