Official: ZEE5 clarifies on PC Meena controversy!

Leading OTT platform, ZEE5 has officially issued a clarification on the ongoing controversy involving the PC Meena case, and here is the platform had to say on this matter.

It has come to Zee's attention that Mr. Prashanth Dimmalla, who has instituted a suit alleging copyright infringement of his work against the Telugu Zee5 original series Viraatapalem: PC Meena Reporting and its scriptwriter, intentionally conducted a press conference, despite being fully aware that the matter is sub judice and that he ought not to have made public statements until the Hon'ble Court adjudicates the copyright infringement claim in its entirety.

Zee would like to clarify that, in compliance with the interim order of the Hon'ble Court dated 25.06.25 and to demonstrate its bona fides, it made available to Mr. Dimmalla a preview of its original series Viraatapalem: PC Meena Reporting, allowing him the opportunity to personally assess whether any part of the series bore resemblance to his script.

However, despite this offer, Mr. Dimmalla and others proceeded to hold a live media press conference and launched a vilification campaign against ZEE5, without exercising patience or availing themselves of the opportunity to view the content.

This was done without providing any evidence to substantiate the claim that Zee had infringed any alleged copyrighted work. In response to Mr. Dimmalla's statements against ZEE5's original series Viraatapalem: PC Meena Report-ing, which was released on the ZEE5 OTT platform, Zee categorically denies the allegations and strongly condemns the spread of misinformation aimed at damaging its reputation.

Zee considers the actions of Mr. Dimmalla and his associates to be reckless and irresponsible, particularly in disseminating false information. Legal action has already been initiated against Mr. Dimmalla and others responsible for making defamatory statements against the company.

Additionally, Zee is contemplating the initiation of criminal proceedings in relation to the deliberate onduct of the press conference, which was broadcast live on social media. Zee urges the general public nedia, and stakeholders to refrain from sharing or endorsing the false statements made by Mr. Dimmall: and his associates.
