After Indian armed forces carried out surgical strikes, Union Government ordered States sharing border with the arch-rival to evacuate people within 10 km radius.

Punjab Government launched massive evacuation drive. People of 1,000 villages in six districts (Amritsar, Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Tarn Taran, Fazilka and Ferozepur). About 15 lakh people are likely to be relocated to other parts of the state. Most of the people were preferring to leave for the houses of their relatives. Some of them were planning to take shelter in rehabilitation homes, schools, community centers, temples and gurdwaras.

Post the Surgical Strikes across the Line of Control, Indian Government isn't ruling out the possibility of retaliation from Terrorists and Pakistan Army. Hence, Precautionary measures like evacuation and keeping disaster management committees active were done. Police force will be deployed in the evacuated village only to safeguard the valuables of the people.
