Sikkim: 16 Soldiers Die After Army Truck Skids Into Gorge!

In a sadful incident, the convoy of Army vehicles lost control and one vehicle met with an accident taking as many as 16 lives. After the vehicle fell into a gorge 16 Army personnel of different ranks breathed their last. The Army announced the sad news.
Going into details, there were three army vehicles in the convoy that left from Chatten in Sikkim and were heading towards Thangu. While taking a sharp turn one truck reportedly lost control and slipped into a gorge. Sixteen soldiers, including three officers, passed away in this.
Four others sustained serious injuries. Knowing about this, the Army officials swung into action and called for a rescue operation. The injured army officials were rushed to the nearby hospital facility for treatment.
The injured victims were reportedly airlifted by the Army to take them to the hospital facility. For a speedy rescue, they were taken in an air vehicle as per the information.
Defence minister Rajnath Singh took to Twitter to react to the sad incident and said that he is pained hearing about the news. Having said that, the Union Cabinet Minister maintained the nation is grateful for the service they did. He also wished for the speedy recovery of the injured.
"Deeply pained by the loss of lives of the Indian Army personnel due to a road accident in North Sikkim. The nation is deeply grateful for their service and commitment. My condolences to the bereaved families. Praying for the speedy recovery of those who are injured," the Minister said on Twitter.
