17 contestants test Covid positive Miss World finale postponed

We all know how cruel the novel Coronavirus is. Due to the pandemic, several events including sports events were postponed and kept on hold. While the IPL 2020 season was held in UAE and the 2021 edition of IPL was played in UAE after the tournament was postponed due to Covid. Now a prestigious event was postponed due to Covid.

The prestigious beauty event, Miss World 2021, which marks the 70th edition of the Miss World pageant was postponed temporarily after a few contestants have come in contact with the novel Coronavirus. The infected contestants include Indian model Manasa Varanasi who is representing India at the beauty event.

As the finale of the prestigious beauty event was scheduled to be held on Thursday, the contestants were found positive for the virus, and hours ahead of the pageant, the organisers issued a statement saying that the event was postponed temporarily.

The organisers in the official statement said that in the wake of the hike in the Coronavirus cases, it was decided to postpone the finale. Adding further, the organisers said, the contestants were placed in isolation in Puerto Rico.

According to the statement issued by the organisers, as many as 17 contestants and staff members came in contact with the virus. Having said that, the organisers expressed their disbelief of not being able to see Manasa Varanasi on the world stage.

Given the Coronavirus situation, the Miss World 2021 finale has been postponed and the same will be held in the next 90 years. There will be no change in the place of the event and Puerto Rico Coliseum Jose Miguel Agrelot will host the beauty event.

"Miss World 2021 temporarily postpones global broadcast finale in Puerto Rico due to health and safety interest of contestants, staff, crew and general public. The finale will be rescheduled at Puerto Rico Coliseum Jose Miguel Agrelot within the next 90 days," Miss World organisers said in a statement.

"SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico-After meeting with the virologists and medical experts hired to oversee the Miss World 2021 event and discussing with the Puerto Rico Health Department, the decision has been made by the organizers of the event to postpone the globally broadcast finale at the Puerto RicoColiseum Jose Miguel Agrelot to be held within the next 90 days," the statement further adds.
