1990 Farmers killed self in 2 Years: T-Govt

In a report submitted to Rajya Sabha Committee on Government Assurances, Telangana Government confirmed the suicides of 1990 farmers in the state during the past two years.
While 1,358 farmers killed self in 2015, About 632 farmers ended life in 2016. The reasons behind the extreme step taken by them are crop loss and increasing debts. Most of the farmers who committed suicide had preferred commercial crops.
Opposition Parties in Telangana have been making a hue and cry over hundreds of farmers suicides. However, TRS Leaders kept saying the allegations are false and most of the deaths were due to personal reasons. But now, State Government itself has come up with the official figures.
On a positive note, There is a sharp decline in the no. of suicides when compared the figures of 2015 & 2016.
