20 Mlc Seats To Go To Polls By January 2022
By: Tupaki Desk | 20 Feb 2021 8:11 AM GMTThe Telangana legislative council will be in for an overhaul by January next. The term of at least a half of the 40-member council would expire and there would be new elections for these posts.
Already there are elections for the two Graduates Constituencies. While Palla Rajeshwar Reddy represented the Waragal-Karimnagar-Nalgonda seat, BJP's Ramachandra Rao represented Hyderabad-Rangareddy-Mahabubnagar constituency. By January 4, 2222, there would be many vacancies. The term of six MLCs would expire by June 3 this year. The MLCs whose term is expiring are – Gutta Sukhender Reddy, Neti Vidyasagar, Bodakunta Venkateshwarlu, Kadiyam Srihari, Fariduddin and Akula Lalitha. By June 16, the term of Madireddy Srinivas Reddy, who has been nominated on Governor's quota too would expire. The term of 12 more MLAs elected to the local body constituencies would expire. They are: Patnam Mahender Reddy, Bhanu Prasad, Puranam Satish, Bhupal Reddy, Naradasu Lakshman, Sunkari Rao, Kasireddy Narayana Reddy, Balasani Lakshminarayana, Damodar Reddy, Pocharam Srinivas Reddy and Tera Chinnapa Reddy.
However, there would not be any major change in the composition of the council. As of now, the TRS has 35 out of the 40 seats. The TRS may in all likelihood, keep the seats. But, never the less, there would be intense political activity over choice of candidates and district-wise political balance.
