ISIS killed 39 Indians, Sushma Confirms!

External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj on Tuesday informed Rajya Sabha that all the 39 Indians who were abducted by ISIS in Iraq three years ago were killed.
In June 2015, About 40 Indians were kidnapped by Islamic State from Mosul in Iraq. One among them escaped from the captivity by posing as Muslim from Bangladesh. All the remaining 39 Indians were shifted to Badoosh and killed brutally.
Sushma Swaraj told Search Operation to locate the bodies were carried out based on the information shared by locals. 'The mass grave had exactly 39 bodies with IDs, Long Hair and Non-Iraqi Shoes. Then, The bodies were taken to Baghdad for DNA Testing. While 38 Indians were identified through DNA Testing, 70 percent matching of DNA was obtained for the remaining one individual. MoS for External Affairs will leave to Iraq to bring back the mortal remains of 39 Indians on a special flight,' she said.
22 out of 39 Deceased People were from Punjab's Amritsar, Gurdaspur and other areas. Most of these families are poor. Harjit Masih, the one who escaped from ISIS posing as Bangladeshi, had long back told all the 39 others were killed. Whereas, External Affairs Ministry kept maintaining until recently that there was no information confirming the deaths.
