Poll-bound West Bengal is witnessing a high-voltage political drama. With the exit of powerful and hugely popular former minister Suvendu Adhikari from the TMC, at least nine MLAs have joined him. If sources are to be believed, at least 50 MLAs are said to be in touch with Suvendu Adhikari. Several of them might jump into the BJP bandwagon any time. Most of these MLAs are from Suvendu's stronghold of East and West Medinipur.

The names of MP Sunil Mondal, Asansol municipal chief Jitendra Tiwary, Kalna MLA Biswajit Kundu, Bengal State Transport Corporation chief Deeptangshu Choudhury are doing rounds. Another MLA Saikat Panja is also said to be in touch with Suvendu.

Meanwhile, in another shocking development, at least four ministers absented themselves from the Cabinet meeting called by CM Mamta Banerjee on Tuesday. The four ministers are – Goutam Deb, Robindronath Ghosh, Chandranath Sinha and Rajiv Banerjee. The party is now trying to ascertain the reason for their skipping the meet and as to whether they are in touch with Suvendu Adhikari. The TMC is in a quandary over the latest development.
