4,700 Migrants drowned in Sea

As per the statistics of International Organisation for Migration (IOM), At least 4,700 migrants and refugees have drowned while crossing the Mediterranean Sea to reach Europe in the year 2016 till November. During the same period last year, 3,565 migrants including men, women and children died in the same manner.
In 2015, About 883,393 migrants have arrived to Europe through Mediterranean Sea. Whereas, The number has fallen to 348,664 migrants in this year and even the death toll has increased. Which means, 2016 is a deadly year for migrants.
Mediterranean Sea route is considered as one of the deadly ones for migrants wishing to reach European shores. While the central Mediterranean Sea route linking North Africa with Italy claimed 4,199 lives, About 429 migrants died in the Eastern Mediterranean route and 62 people succumbed on the Western Mediterranean passage.
