Indonesia has got the worst record when it comes to Air Travel Safety. An Indonesian aircraft with 162 people on board crashed in December 2014. With the crash of a Passenger Plane on Sunday, Poor safety measures got exposed yet again.

An Indonesian Plane ATR 42-300 lost contact with air traffic control just nine minutes before it was scheduled to land in Papua. A plane sent to locate the missing aircraft returned unsuccessfully due to poor weather condition. Residents in the Bintang Mountains regency informed about the crash of a plane at the Tangok mountain. Rescue teams and Military were rushed to the crash site.

As many as 54 people are said to be on board including 44 adults, five children and five crew members. Apparently, 6.5 billion rupiah (approx $470,000) in cash is being transported on this plane for distributing to the poor.

Trigana Air Service which owns the plane rules out poor safety measures and suspects weather condition could be the cause for crash.
