57 Minor Girls At Kanpur Shelter Home Test Positive For Virus, 1 HIV +

In what it could be a shocker, 57 minor girls were tested positive for the contagious disease at a Children's shelter home in Kanpur district of Uttar Pradesh. It is also found out that five minor girls were pregnant and one girl tested positive for HIV.
Ever since the news broke, the authorities responded quickly and sealed the state-run shelter home. The staff of the shelter home was also sent to lazaretto as a safety measure.
With the news gaining a lot of attention from various sections, Kanpur Magistrate Brahma Deo Ram Tiwari addressed the media and said that seven pregnant girls were living in the home who were brought here going by the recommendations of various child welfare committees.
He said that five out of seven pregnant minors tested positive for the virus. However, the investigation, in this case, is underway. A police case was booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
The minor girls were shifted to Kanpur Medical College for further treatment for the contagious disease.
