85-year-old Positive Patient Sacrifices Hospital Bed, Dies To Help Young Covid Patient Live

The man, identified as Narayan Dabhadkar was admitted to the Indira Gandhi hospital in Nagpur with acute Covid 19 symptoms and low oxygen levels.
However, within a few hours he told the hospital authorities that he wanted to be discharged so that someone young could get a bed and get treated. "I have lived my life. I have seen it all. Now it’s time to go. I should help a young man to survive so that he can support his family and serve the nation.," he said. He said he was moved by the tears of a woman, whose 40 year old husband was suffering from Covid. He wanted the authorities to allocate his bed for the patient. Though shocked at this extraordinary, the doctor and the family members gave in. Dabhadkar was taken home, where he died two days later.
Dabhadkar is a retired employee of the Statistics department and is a well-known social activist in his colony. active and life-long worker of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
