9 New Faces in PM Modi Cabinet

Prime Minister Narendra Modi opted for a major cabinet reshuffle keeping the 2019 General Elections in mind. As many as 9 new faces have been inducted and PM preferred only performers. The list include Four Ex-Bureaucrats and BJP Leaders from poll-bound states Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka.

i) Ashwini Kumar Choubey (64) represents Buxar Lok Sabha Constituency in Bihar. He was instrumental in building 11,000 toilets for Mahadalit Families.

ii) Virendra Kumar (63) represents Tikamgarh Lok Sabha Constituency in Madhya Pradesh

iii) Shiv Pratap Shukla (65) is a Rajya Sabha MP from UP. He was in jail for 19 months during Emergency.

iv) Anant Kumar Hegde (49) represents Uttara Kannada Lok Sabha Constituency in Karnataka. This 5-time MP is an agriculturist and even practices martial art Taekwondo.

v) Satya Pal Singh (61) represents Baghpat Lok Sabha Constituency in UP. He was a former chief of Mumbai Police Department.

vi) Gajendra Singh Shekhawat (49) represents Jodhpur Lok Sabha Constituency in Rajasthan. He is a member of All India Sports Council and Chief of Basketball India Players Association.

vii) Hardeep Singh Puri (65) served as India's representative to United Nations from 2009 to 2013.

viii) Raj Kumar Singh (64), a former IAS, representing Arrah Lok Sabha Constituency in Bihar.

ix) Alphons Kannanthanam (64), a former IAS, known as 'Demolition Man' for demolishing thousands of illegal constructions during his stint at the Delhi Development Authority.
