The United Kingdom made a historic step towards tackling the Coronavirus pandemic by approving the vaccine developed by Pharma giant Pfizer and its german partner BioNTech.
The authorities have made elaborate arrangements for the vaccination, dubbed as mass vaccinations by the media.
The mass vaccination has started in the United Kingdom today. 92-year-old Margaret Keenan became the first person to take the vaccine dose as part of the vaccination program.
Margaret Keenan, who hails from Enniskillen has spoken to the media after the vaccination program. The 90-year-old who would turn a year older the next week called the vaccine as her early birthday gift.
The woman has urged everyone to take the vaccine to beat the pandemic. She said, if she can take the vaccine dose at the age of 80, then everyone can take the vaccine dose.
The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine dose will be given to the public in two doses. The second dose of vaccine will be administered 21 days after taking the first dose of vaccine.
The UK government has prioritized the frontline workers, health workers and elderly people to vaccinate them. As many as 50 hospitals across the nation were picked to vaccine the prioritized groups.
