A Survey Cites Around 50 Percent Of Indians Might Contact Covid-19 By Feb 2021
By: Tupaki Desk | 20 Oct 2020 5:28 AM GMTIndia, which is in second place after the United States with the Covid-19 outbreak has one more area of concern with the predictions of experts over the spread of the virus.
Experts opined that by February 2021, as much as over 50 percent of the Indian population might get infected with the novel Coronavirus, which indicates the slowdown of the virus spread.
Talking about the survey, Manindra Agarwal, a professor of mathematics at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur said India, which witnessed the peak of the virus in September managed to bring down the fresh cases, and currently, around 60k cases were being reported daily.
So far, over 76 lakh patients have been diagnosed with the Covid-19 virus in the country which translates to nearly 30 percent, and according to the predictions, the percentage might go up to 50percent.
However, the professor maintained that the findings of the survey might not be accurate as the serological surveys might have not covered the larger population. The researchers have used a mathematical model for the survey.
The survey came in light of the start of the festival season. Dusshera Navatari has started already while Diwali is in November.
Till the time the potential vaccine reaches India, all we can do is strictly following Covid-19 protocols like wearing face masks and maintain social distancing.
