With Aamir Khan's intolerance remark 'My Wife suggested moving out of India', Kiran Rao came into limelight and that's how people came to know about her roots in Wanaparthy in the Mahbubnagar district of Telangana..
Kiran Rao happens to be Grand Daughter of CMS Rao (Brother of Wanaparthy's last ruler Raja Rameshwar Rao's wife Saantha). As Actress Aditi Rao Hydari too belongs belongs to Wanaparthy rulers with Raja Rameshwar Rao being her maternal grandfather, Kiran Rao became her first maternal cousin in that way. Even though they rarely make public appearances together, Aditi and Kiran Rao maintain a cordial relationship.
After merger of Wanaparthy with Indian Union, The last ruler Raja Rameshwar Rao moved his base to Hyderabad. Mr.Rao passed away few years ago. His successor Raja Krishnadewara Rao visit Wanaparthy every year during the Dussehra season.
Rameshwar Rao Trust Members inform neither Kiran Rao nor her Mother had paid visit to Wanaparthy in the past.
