NRI Husband And Wife Win Noble Prize
By: Tupaki Desk | 15 Oct 2019 6:50 AM GMTIndian-American Abhijit Banerjee and his wife Esther Duflo along with Michel Kremer have won Nobel Prize for Economics. The trio was honored with Noble for their experimental approach to alleviating global poverty said Noble Prize Committee in a statement.
"The research conducted by this year's laureates has considerably improved our ability to fight global poverty. In two decades, their new experiment-based approach has transformed development economics, which is now a flourishing field of research," the Noble Prize Committee said.
Abhijit and Esther are professors at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the US. Abhijit is from Kolkata and he studied at the University of Calcutta and Jawaharlal Nehru University. Esther Duflo, a French-American and a former advisor to Former US President Barack Obama.
