Indian Air Force Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman who was captured by Pakistan on Wednesday returned to his motherland finally. A short while ago, Pakistan Authorities handed over him to India at the Wagah Border. Abhinandan Varthaman received a hero's welcome for being so brave and true Bharat Ratna. As many as 20,000 people gathered at the border to welcome him. Bharat Matha Ki Jai slogans have been raised continuously. #WelcomeBackAbhinandan hashtag is trending on the social media since the past 24 hours.

A special plane will fly Abhinandan from Amritsar to Delhi after conducting medical tests. Air Vice Marshal RGK Kapoor will brief media over the return of the Pilot very soon.

After shooting down Pakistani Jet, Abhinandan Varthaman had saved his life from the ill-fated aircraft MiG-21 using a parachute but ended up landing in Pakistan's territory. The Pilot fired bullets in the air to keep the angry mob away. He then jumped into a pond and destroyed crucial documents by eating them. Abhinandan refused to reveal any confidential information to the Pakistan Army.

On the eve of Abhinandan's return, The Beating Retreat Ceremony that's supposed to happen two hours before sunset daily at Wagah Border has been cancelled. Though the IAF Pilot was supposed to step on Indian soil by 2 PM, Paper Work delayed the release by few hours. Two Top IAF Officials received him at the Wagah Border.

Minister of State for External Affairs Vijay Kumar Singh made it clear that Pakistan hasn't done any favour to India by returning the IAF Pilot as it should be done as per the Geneva Convention. He pointed out that India released over 90,000 Prisoners of War from Pakistan since 1971 Indo-Pak War.
