Left-handed batsman Suresh Raina who represented India for a long time and left a big mark in the Indian Premier League(IPL) has announced retirement from all the formats with a social media post. He made the big announcement on the microblogging site Twitter just a while ago.

Having made the announcement, Suresh Raina thanked the cricket governing body BCCI, Uttar Pradesh Cricket Academy, the Chennai Super Kings, and fans who stood by him and supported him in his glorious career.

Suresh Raina's decision is not a surprise. After he was not retained in the IPL by CSK and no team showed interest in buying him there has been an opinion that Raina would bid goodbye and keep himself distanced from the game and IPL if possible.

However, there is no clarity on whether Suresh Raina retired from IPL or not. He did not mention IPL in his post, though he said he is retiring from all forms of cricket. Despite retiring from international cricket, a few players play in IPL. Former Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni is playing for CSK even after retiring from international cricket.

Suresh Raina is a big name in IPL and he is often dubbed Mr. IPL for the impact he created. He made a valuable contribution to CSK in the middle order. Raina also helped CSK to have a balanced team with his fielding and bowling.

However, his association ended with the CSK. In 2020, he opted out of IPL due to personal reasons. One of his relatives was reportedly killed by robbers and he returned to India. The next year he was not given many chances to play IPL. In 2022 he was not retained by CSK. Raina stepped into the shoes of a commentator after he was not retained.

Talking about his career, Suresh Riana has had an illustrious career in the international game for around 13 years. He went to represent India in all three formats and made a valuable contribution. Suresh Raina became the first Indian batsman to score a century in the three formats outside India. In IPL as well, Suresh Raina has a good record and he smashed 5,000 runs.
