Adani Group Gets Massive Coal Tender In AP!
By: Tupaki Desk | 9 March 2023 5:05 PM ISTThe Gujarat-based business tycoon Gautam Adani increased his fortunes largely in the past three years. There is strong criticism that the Bharatiya Janata Party at the Centre is benefiting Adani. Recently a research firm made sensational allegations about Gautam Adani and said that his umpire is bogus and might collapse at any time.
Despite all this, Gautam Adani is getting tenders and works in many states. Though the opposition parties target Prime Minister Narendra Modi using Gautam Adani's name, the Adani industries get tenders in the states. A few months back, Adani groups secured a port project in West Bengal and the worth of the project is $3.1 billion.
A similar scene is happening in Andhra Pradesh. Gautam Adani's firm is getting key tenders across areas. His group is operating two large ports in the state Krishnapatnam and Gangavaram. Two big projects were given to the Adani group.
Yet again, the Adani group got a massive tender. Recently, the Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation (APGENCO) placed an order for 7.5 lakh tonnes of imported coal for the Damodaram Sanjeevaiah TPS (DSTPS). A few companies made their bids. But the Adani group got the tender.
But what caught everyone's attention is, the price quoted by the Adani group is more than the usual price. The company quoted 13,500 per tonne, which is said to be over Rs 4,000 more as per the experts. This results in a burden of hundreds of crores on the government.
The experts say that the rate of coal in the open market has increased now due to various reasons and even if we include the transport charges, it would be less than what the Adani group had quoted. Usually, ports use indigenous coal and only in rare situations, do we import coal. They are expressing their shock over the price quoted by Adani.
No one knows why the Andhra Pradesh government gave the tender to Gautam Adani despite facing a big financial burden. Experts say that at least 500 crores would have been saved if the indigenous coal was ordered.
However, there is a strong criticism that the YCP government wants to be in the good books of the BJP and that is why the Gujarat companies and businessmen are given tenders. When the Amul company came to the state, the AP government reportedly forced the farmers to give money to Amul. Now Adani is getting big tenders.
