Advocate Raghunandan Rao came down heavily on Excise Enforcement Director Akun Sabharwal who is in-charge drug racket case investigation in a news channel debate. 'The whole issue is a publicity stunt. For example, Blood Samples have to be sent to Forensic Lab if a person is suspected to be a drug addict. In Telangana, We have only one such Forensic Laboratory. Samples related to Murders, Rapes & other crimes has to be tested here itself. Is it really possible to find out if a person is drug addict or not?,' asks the Lawyer.

Mr.Rao said he would have filed defamation suit against Akun Sabharwal had if notices were served to him. He added, 'What would he do if I refuse to offer my blood samples for tests? Then, SIT has to seek Court's permission for My blood samples. This procedure would take 3 months. If I took drugs 6 months ago, Our Forensic Laboratories doesn't have the necessary expertise to find out facts'.

'How can drug links between a Celebrity & Drug Peddler be established just based on phone calls? They could have spoken about matters other than drugs. Drug Addict & Drug Peddler can't be treated similarly. If a person if a drug addict, He/She can't be arrested but has to be taken to Drug Addiction Centre as a victim. Drug Consumption, Drug Selling & Doing Drug-based Business can't be compared. Akun Sabharwal need to know about the difference between them'.

Raghunandan Rao alleged Drug Racket issue has been highlighted to divert the attention from Miyapur Land Scam. 'Has Akun Sabharwal served the notices to the schools in which drugs has been supplied? Has he grilled the schools management in a similar manner? What does Section 67 of NDPS Act say? Actor Bharath was nabbed by cops thrice. Has Cops used NDPS Act against him? You don't even get bail if NDPS Act is used. Under what sections cases have been filed against him? Celebrities are targeted just for the sake of publicity,' he questioned.
