After Rajahmundry, trouble in Kakinada torments TDP in East Godavari
X
All is not well in the TDP in East Godavari district. Barely has the rebellion by senior MLA Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary subsided that there is another storm brewing in the party in the district. After Rajahmundry rural constituency, it is now the turn of the Kakinada rural constituency. Intense groupism and faction politics are threatening to hit at the root of the party in the district.

There is a growing demand in Kakinada rural constituency to replace the constituency incharge. Though the demand is two years old, it has picked pace now. Rural incharge, former MLA Pilli Anantalakshmi and her husband Veera Venkata Satyanarayana aka Sattibabu are accused of being quite inactive. There are growing allegations that they are taking no interest in the party affairs. However, Pilli Anantalakshmi and Sattibabu claim that former deputy CM Nimmakayala Chinarajappa was behind the allegations against them.

This dispute is not a new one. In the past too, former ZPTC Kakarapalli Satyavathi, senior leaders Chalapathi and V Gopal have submitted a 25-page complaint against the Pilli couple and wanted them replaced. An angry Pilli Sattibabu offered to resign from the post. But, senior leaders and former minister Boddu Bhaskara Rama Rao and Kakinada Lok Sabha constituency incharge Jyothula Naveen had then intervened and pacified Sattibabu.

The party meanwhile is on the downslide in East Godavari. Once considered a TDP citadel, the district has now turned into a YSRCP fortress. Already the dispute between Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary and Adireddy Appa Rao in Rajahmundry has marred the party prospects in the Rajahmundry city. With the Kakinada and Peddapuram areas now coming under the cloud of dissidence, the prospects look bleak for the TDP.
