As a bid to counter misinformation, Facebook has frozen the official page of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro for violating the norms. The page reportedly shared misinformation of Coronavirus.
As per Facebook, the Venezuelan President shared a video on his official page on medication for Covid which claims Carvativir, an oral solution derived from thyme neutralises the pandemic that too without any side effects.
However, the doctors say there is no scientific information to prove the magical cure. Following this, Facebook has removed the video on the magical cure from the Facebook page of the President.
The spokesperson of Facebook said there is no enough info to prove the medication against the Coronavirus. With repeated violations of the policies, President's page was frozen for 30 days, the spokesperson said.
In an official statement, Facebook said despite the decision to freeze Nicolas Maduro's official page, the temporary suspension will not apply to Instagram, owned by Facebook.
