Days ahead of Vinayaka Chaturthi festive, Andhra Pradesh government led by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy issued guidelines regarding the festival celebrations.

Andhra Pradesh Endowments Minister Velampalli Srinivasa Rao said no permission will be given to organize Vinayaka Pandals and urged people to celebrate the festival at their houses only.

Endowments Minister who chaired a review meeting with the officials of Endowments and police departments said the height of the idols should not be more than three feet and the idols should be immersed in the nearby water bodies.

Velampalli Srinivas Rao went on to say that rallies and mass gathering at the water bodies during the idol immersion are also not allowed this year.

The government took this decision, in the wake of the pandemic outbreak as mass gathering and rallies during the festival might result in the rapid spread of the respiratory disease.
